There is More to Ketchup than Good Taste

When you are eating ketchup, what do you taste? Some tomatoes and maybe some artificial tastes . But, does anyone ever taste lycopene? It is a strong anti-oxidant and it is very important for our bodies.

So, why is lycopene important to our body? In our body there is something called a free radical. Free radicals are free electrons (unpaired) electrons that are attached to atoms or molecules. These free radicals can oxidize most of the molecules in our body. However these little devils are known to oxidize the DNA molecules in the cell nucleus. If this happens then the body has an increased chance of getting cancer and other deadly diseases. So  Lycopene in the tomatos eats these free radicals and stops them from oxidizing the DNA molecules.

Some of you may be wondering what “oxidize” means. The Statue of Liberty in New York is really made of copper. When the French first made it and handed it over to the United States it was the color of a penny, a nice brown, gold color. If you ever keep a penny for around 5 years the color of it starts to become light green. This happens because the copper molecules mix with the oxygen molecules in the air and they form a new substance called copper oxide. When the molecules mix,  there is a new color that is formed on the substance. This is what has happened to the Statue of Liberty. The copper of the statue has become a complete light green due to the mixing of molecules over the years. The process of mixing oxygen with other substances such as copper is called oxidation.

Believe it or not, there are many antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables. For example, Red Carrot, Watermelon, Papaya and many more. Now that I think of it what would have happed if we had put ketchup all over the Statue of Liberty to prevent it from changing color. That would be something not only to see but also to eat!!!

India & America

India is a really interesting place there are so many different kinds of people. There are poor people and rich people, there are also some mediocre people. There are many different religions, cars, etc….. One of the good things about India is the close friendships and the way people care about each other. There are so many things that are similar to America, there are also many things that are not similar.

For example some of the things that are very similar between America and India are the technology. Many people have the same computers and sometimes even better cellphones. India also has a great history behind it. All countries struggled at one time, America and India are one of the most well known. The history itself is similar, it involves Britain trying to take over the entire country. Just like America.

There are also some differences. Some of them would be the poverty level in India verses the poverty level in America. There are many people who are poor here because of the lack of education. That is also one of the differences. Most of the children in America, go to school. Many more children here do not have the money to go to school. There are also many cars that look different than the cars that are in America. One other difference is the amount of pollution in India. There are so many cars that pollute the air and there is so much trash that covers the lands. Now many scientists are trying to find ways to reduce pollution all of the world. Including India.

Well these are some of the differences and similarites between India & America, if you like America, you will like India, if you like India, you will like America. The two countries are great in many different and similar ways. The two beautiful countries are one of the wonders of this world. You would miss out on alot with seeing these beautiful places.

The Spy Next Door

A few weeks ago, my family and I went to a movie called the Spy Next Door. In the Movie there was something that caught mine and my fathers attention. There was some kind of bacteria that was multiplying while it was eating the oil up. Then we figured out that it would be cool if we could figure out how many bacterias there would be in one whole day. So every 15 min. one bacteria would multiply by two. So if that one bacteria kept multiplying by two the whole day, what would it be? The answer is about 79 ninillions. This means that there are 32 0s in the entire number, is n’t that cool? I figured this out using the binary system. Read up about it in my blog called The Binary System.

The Binary System not as complicated as it may seem to most people when they take they’re first look. The entire system is based on the number two. The base number is two and there are only two numbers in the entire number system, these numbers are 1 and 0. To convert a Binary Number To a Decimal Number you have to complete the steps that the picture below shows

Electric Currents

My brother, father and I did some experiments today. Our wii was not working and then we wanted to see weather there was any electricity coming from the power cable. Since we couldn’t pull the cable out at the time we decided to use a machine called a volt meter. This machine shows you how much electricity is flowing through an object. We used a battery to give some power to the metal conductors that we used. We go some pots and pans from the kitchen, aluminum foil and some forks and knives. These are very good conductors and we also found out that the metal rod we had was not a conductor on the outside because of the paint. Another thing we found out is that gum wrappers have a metal side and a non metal side that makes it one side conductor, one side insulator. Isn’t that cool? Then when we got the wii cable out, my father and I saw that there was no power and that we needed a replacement cable for it.  It was cool to see that my father, brother, and I figured out what was wrong with out wii together. My father said that we are all electrical engineers. I hope that you will do some experiments like this too. Science Rules.

Windows 7 VS Windows Vista

Windows has come up with many different opperating systems such as Windows XP, Windows Vista, and their newest one Windows 7. Now everyone of these opperating systems had new features. With Window’s latest opperating system, there are many new features. The one that stands out the most is how much bit space they have. See all of the operating systems before Windows 7 had 32 bits in the computer. Now a 32 bits are equal to about 4.3 GB. So this means that you can make a document that takes up the space of  4.3 GB, nothing more. Now with Windows 7 you have 64 bits. This means that you can have a file that is 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 GB file. This is a really big file you could fit about 10 High Defention Movies in this space.

Figureing this out was not so easy for me. Now first you need to understand what a bit is. A bit is  a binary digit. Have you ever heard of the binary system, well that is how I figured out this problem. First you need to now that there are only two numbers in the binary system, 1 & 0. Next you need to find the largest number that you can make in the binary system. So since there are 32 bits, that means that the largest number would be 11111111111111111111111111111111. Now when you convert that into the decimal system, you should get 4,294,967,295. Then you need to convert that into GB or gigabytes. After you do that your final answer should be 4.294967295 GB. I rounded that to 4.3 GB. Once you figured that out you should see that you should be able to do the same thing with 64 bits which is what Windows 7 has. After all of the math you should come up with about 9.2 Quillion. This will be converted into billion becuase that is what GB are. After converting your final answer should be 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 GB. See, Windows 7 is a lot better.

Some New Words

Some new words that I learned from reading a book called the Thirteenth Reality By James Dashner. Some of these words are ENTROPY witch means a measure of the randomness of the microscopic constituents of a thermodynamic system. Isn’t that cool? Another word that made me laugh was DAD GUM, it’s used as an intensive to express mild annoyance. That just cracked me up. I thought that was one of the funniest words in the entire book. Well these are just some of the cool and funny words in this book. The good thing is these are the only two words that were new to me in the whole book so I understood it really well.

My Thoughts on the new iPhone 3G S

The new iphone 3G S, is  a very interesting phone. It has some new features and is also has a very stylish look that can be used by both man and women.

Some of the new features are that there is now a digital compass. It is very interesting the way it works. When you change the direction of the phone it will automatically turn the needle and point to the new direction. you can also choose weather to use true north or magnetic north. Now because of the compass, the maps on the phone will keep updating on which direction you are heading and what you have finished. Much much more easier with this built in digital compass.

Another new feature that the iphone has is that now there is cut copy and paste. This will allow you to copy something from the internet and then paste it in to an email or even a text or mms. This feature is very very useful.

A good feature that the iphone 3G S has is that there is now a video camera and a still picture camera. And now there are 2 mega pixels in the camera. It is also very simple to send and also edit the graphics that you take. You can also see the photos that you have taken recently very simply too.

Now the iphone 3G S has something that I truly love the most. The speedy voice control. This allows you to call someone that is in you address book just by saying their name. You can also call people by saying there phone number. Another thing that you can use the voice control for is the built in ipod. you can say the names of the songs or you can tell the phone to play the favorites play list or some album that you would like to listen to. If you hear a song that you really like but you have forgotten what it was, you could ask the phone what it is. You can also make genius play lists which are also very nice.

How Do You Make Forms with Excel ??????

Did you know that you could make forms on Microsoft Excel. Regular forms or anything. All you need to do is make a macro. Macro is a language that you can use to write a program. Now different types of forms are also different types of forms are also different types of programs. It is very easy to do. Go into the Macro option, then click on Visual Basic and you can create anything that you want. You can even add some drop downs which are called combo boxes, and even list boxes. So if you didn’t know that, now you do.

Harry Potter and the Half blood Prince

New movie. Do you know what it is. Do you know what is coming your way.  A magical adventure. HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE! Harry Potter fans the waiting is almost over. The sixth movie of harry potter will be coming out on July 15 and it will be fantastic. There will be new spells, new scenery, and much more. There will be some happy parts some funny parts some scary parts and some serious parts.
